On Sunday July 16, a group of volunteers including members of Green Newton gathered to help assess gas leaks at the intersection of Washington and Day streets in Auburndale. Organized by Carolyn Lattin, Mothers Out Front, and HEET (Home Energy Efficiency Team) the day was all about using a plastic chamber (a specially-outfitted plastic tub) to cover each section of ground or curb along the street where the leak is. The volunteers worked in teams of 3 to set up the chamber, start a timer, and record readings. They measured over 100 leaks over the course of the day.

Here is a blog on the HEET website that you could link to if people want more info about the process.  Different leak, but same idea.  https://www.heetma.org/2017/06/the-big-one-that-almost-got-away/
