Tip of the Week: Recycling CDs and DVDs

We thank residents on Nextdoor Newton for this week’s tips on what to do with unwanted CDs and DVDs.<

  • More Than Words, a bookstore serving disadvantaged youth, accepts CDs and DVDs, if they are commercial vs. personal. Their store is located 56 Felton St, Waltham, and they have drop boxes, including one behind Trader Joe’s in West Newton.
  • The Decluttr App will offer you a nominal amount of money for DVDs and CDs, and send you a free shipping label.
  • The Newton Free Library also accepts donations of CDs and DVDs for borrowing or resale. It’s run by the Friends of the Newton Free Library.  The drop off address is 375 Auburn St., Auburndale, and the hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-5pm, as well as Saturdays from 10am-noon.
  • The Goodwill drop off at the Newton’s Resource Recovery Center at 15 Rumford Ave, Auburndale accepts them too. They recommend a tax write off of $1 per CD/DVD.
