Please note that the time and location of the event has been changed slightly. The public meeting will now be held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, 39 Dalton Street, Boston. The time of the public meeting remains the same from 3-7pm but there will be a rally from 3-4pm in the Hampton room on the third floor at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. According to the Mass Sierra Club Facebook event page:
MASS RESIDENTS: Please attend a rally on 2/27 in the Hampton Room on the third floor at the Sheraton and then join for the public meeting to speak out against this proposal!
WHEN: Tuesday, February 27, 2018
Rally from 3-4PM in the Hampton room on the third floor at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, 39 Dalton Street, Boston, MA 02199, and hear important voices speak about this proposal.
Meet wearing a light blue top (important for visual unity of opposition inside the BOEM meeting!) and a life jacket, wetsuit, snorkel gear, or other ocean recreation attires (Sierra Club also has limited numbers of aquatic species hats you can borrow, and Climate Action Network will be bringing a couple handfuls of life jackets you can use at the rally!!)!
Bring a poster against offshore drilling to hold!
Contact Emily Norton of Sierra Club MA or Melissa Gates of Surfrider Foundation FMI: 617-423-5775 or 207-706-6378.

Our rally group will enter the BOEM meeting in unified opposition together at 4PM, to officially participate and offer written comments about why this offshore drilling and exploration proposal is BAD NEWS for Mass!
You can join the BOEM meeting anytime between 3 & 7PM to wager your opposition and we hope you can rally with us inside the Sheraton beforehand, from 3-4p!
–>Public meeting 3pm-7pm, Sheraton Boston Hotel
39 Dalton Street, Boston, MA 02199.
The public meeting is in an open-house format so participants can arrive any time during the scheduled meeting time to express concerns about the National OCS Program. While it’s nice that people can come and go, BOEM is not providing a REAL opportunity here for the public to actually speak openly and on the record to voice concerns about this proposal. Additionally, ONE public meeting for the entire state, is inadequate. COME PROTEST!
Surfrider will also have Drilling is Killing stickers on hand to help visually augment our collective opposition during all facets of participation in this meeting.
Give a shout if YOU and/or your organization or business would like to help in the coordinated campaign effort: [email protected]
The Trump administration’s reckless plan to open nearly all federal waters to oil and gas drilling would devastate marine life, jeopardize the health and economies of coastal communities, and put our climate more at risk — at a time when we need to rapidly move to 100% renewable energy.
You can do two things:
- Submit your urgent comment opposing Trump’s dangerous drilling plan.
- Attend a public forum on Tuesday, February 27 from 3–7pm at the Hyatt Regency Boston (One Avenue de Lafayette, Boston). There will be a rally with speakers and performers starting at 3pm. RSVP for this hearing now.
The event hosts are 350 Mass Cape Cod, Mass Sierra Club, and the Surfrider Foundation.
