Take a Reusable Bag on April 22 and Use It Every Time You Shop

On Earth Day, Sunday, April 22 from 1-5pm Green Newton will hand out free reusable shopping bags to customers at the Newtonville and Auburndale Star Market stores. Please remember to use reusable bags when you go to the store. Paper bags are more sustainable than single use plastic bags, but they still take energy to produce/recycle and generate waste. Leave bags by the door to remind you or keep an extra set in your car so you’ll aways have some on hand.

Star Market has generously donated 500 of their reusable shopping bags for us to give (free) to customers as part of Green Newton’s 2018 Earth Day Project!

Boston College’s environmental group, Eco-Pledge, offered to volunteer and you are welcome to join us too! This is a great way to reduce paper bag waste in Newton! Sign up to help hand out bags for 4 hours, one hour, half an hour, whatever fits your schedule by contacting Karen Bray.
