Environmentalism in the Newton Schools & GN Annual Environmental Leadership Awards on May 22

Join us on Monday, May 22 at 7pm at the Newton Free Library (330 Homer St., Newton) for our spring program produced and hosted by Students for a Greener World (SGW), Green Newton’s student group. During this lively presentation, students from Newton schools will demonstrate how they’ve helped the environment through projects such as:

  • Bowen Elementary School’s Outdoor Classroom/Garden
  • Newton South’s UNESCO Youth Conference on Climate Change Team
  • NSHS Marine Biology Ocean Trash Project
  • Newton North’s Greengineers
  • Students for a Greener World’s interaction with schools and organizations
  • 2017 Wild Boar Awards for encouraging and promoting students’ environmental action, with special guest Tom Ashley of Dancing Bear Farm in Leyden

Additionally, the 2017 Green Newton Annual Environmental Leadership Awards will be presented to:

  • Individual – Alicia Bowman, Bike Newton Leader
  • Community Group – Eliot Church
  • Business – Auburndale Builders
  • Youth – Boston College Students Eco-Pledge
