On Tuesday, April 4 at 7pm, Newton’s Conservation Commission will meet at Newton City Hall (1000 Commonwealth Ave, Newton) in Room 211 to review a request by a proposed developer, who is asking permission to remove, dredge or alter a pond on a 11.5 acre area known as Carlson Woods, located between the Mt. Ida campus and homes in Oak Hill.

A neighborhood group, “Save Carlson Woods”, says that the area is “essential to neighborhood water management, acting as a naturally occurring flood prevention system.  To the south of Oak Hill sits wetlands.  To the West – the Charles River, and to the North, a small lake.   Surrounded by water, the woods help to keep us dry.”
