Join the Campaign to Stop the Weymouth Compressor Station on August 24

Mothers Out Front is organizing a Twitter STORM on Thursday, August 24 from 10am-12pm to stop the Weymouth compressor station! This will be the final step in a summer campaign sponsored by Mothers Out Front. We want to flood the MA Department of Public Health with messages in opposition to the Weymouth compressor station and will cc Governor Baker. Please click here to see sample tweets and memes.

If you want to write your own tweets, be sure to tag @MassDPH, @MassGovernor, and @MothersOutFront and use the hashtag #RealRiskRealAssessment. The focus is on Twitter because the DPH is on Twitter. Facebook posts are welcome, using the same hashtag.

On Wednesday, August 23 at 7 pm there will be an online training for those who want to learn more about Twitter and how to use it effectively for this event. (30 – 45 minutes). Please RSVP HERE.

Background:

The results of air quality testing done over the preceding year by community members in this highly polluted Fore River Basin region are highly concerning, and have been shared with the MA Department of Environmental Protection.

On July 17, Governor Baker directed the DPH and the DEP to prepare a public health impact assessment on the Weymouth compressor station,  and to do this before any final decision was made on an air quality permit for the Spectra/Enbridge compressor.

A truly comprehensive and open health impact assessment could significantly delay and perhaps ultimately stop the compressor station.

Thank you for sharing this e-mail and link to this web page widely.

Please join efforts to prevent this critical piece of infrastructure, which would further harm the health of Fore River Basin residents and allow transport of huge amounts of fracked gas to export abroad.
