COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING

November 17 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

SIGNUP OPEN FOR NOVEMBER 17 COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING HELPERS

Once again, we are happy to be planting about 100 trees on our main
planting day for Fall 2018 Community Tree Plantings, SATURDAY MORNING,
NOVEMBER 17 (backup bad weather date November 18). As usual, homeowners
and residents receiving trees are participating, but we greatly
appreciate help from past tree recipients and our members.

For the first time, we are venturing to use SignUpGenius for volunteers
signing up to help. You do not need to have a SignUpGenius account
yourself to use this. Just go to this link:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B084CA9AA2FA1FC1-fall

There are two types of 'slots' :
-- RESIDENTS, for residents of the various groups who are getting trees
(or the people who are standing in for them) to confirm who will be
there. (Most of you have already done that; this is mainly so no one
mistakenly signs up for a Volunteer slot leading us to double count
you.)
-- VOLUNTEERS, for unaffiliated volunteers. You can now just pick your
preferred location, without waiting for me to confirm.

Our groups on November 17 are:
-- Alexander Rd/Walnut Hill Rd neighborhood, Newton Highlands
-- Fisher Ave/Duncklee/Lakewood, Newton Highlands
-- Schofield Drive & vicinity, Newtonville
-- Ward St/Nobscot/Merrill, Newton Centre
-- Webster St/Webster Park, West Newton
(Our sixth group, Joseph Road in Newtonville, will be done as our
training location on November 3, and people from that group are welcome
to sign up to help on Nov. 17.)

In the SignUp there will be a space for comments (e.g. 'I may bring my
teenager'), and an optional question on whether you would like a
non-physical task. You will be able to edit your response, so if you
sign up and then find out you can't attend, please remove your name so
someone else can use the slot. I've set a reminder email for two days
ahead of planting.

Separately, I'll send an email to all November 17 participants with each
group's meeting point for the 8:30am start. Based on past experience,
we'll likely be finishing up by 11 or 11:30, and will have a few
miscellaneous and replacement trees to plant, for anyone who would like
to do extra.

Please let me know if you have any difficulty with the signup process. I
hope it's an improvement.

Thank you for supporting Newton's trees!
