Join Green Newton at 7pm on Monday, March 19 at the Newton Free Library (330 Homer St, Newton) as we present the next in our Greening Our Community Series, Climate and Health: the Challenges Ahead.
Three distinguished speakers headline the March event:
- Dr. Brita Lundberg will provide a general overview of climate change and the health impacts and what we can do locally to plan for the future.
- Dr. Regina LaRocque will speak about the impacts on climate change of natural gas leaks, and their health impacts, and speak to her involvement with that issue as chair of the Natural Resources Commission in Wellesley. She will also emphasize the importance of improved health monitoring activities and public health preparedness.
- Dr. Jonathan Levy will present some of the health benefits associated with renewable energy and energy efficiency
Dr. Lundberg, M.D., is a member of Green Newton, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Mass Health Care Professionals for Clean Energy, and Environmental and Occupational Health Committee, Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. LaRocque is a physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Vice-Chair of the Natural Resources Commission in the town of Wellesley. Dr. Levy, Doctor of Science, is Professor and Interim Chair in the Department of Environmental Health at the Boston University School of Public Health.
